With Avengers: Infinity War coming up soon, you can watch one Marvel film a week and you will have caught up to Infinity War right before its theatrical release. So here at Geek Motivation we are giving a recap of each MCU film each week till Infinity War.

Where it all begins, Iron Man, the film that changed the world of movies. Robert Downey Jr stars as Tony Stark/Iron Man and gives a career reviving performance.
Starts off with Tony in the middle East in a military humvee and quickly get to see the Tony Stark persona with his witty lines. An explosion forces them to leave the humvee where Stark is attempting to leave but sees his own branded missle land near him and explode.

Scene cuts and we are taken back few days prior and given a quick over view of Tony Stark’s life and current legacy. We are introduced to Obadiah Stane (Jeff Bridges), Rhodey (Terrence Howard), Jarvis (Paul Bettany), and Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow). Tony flies to the middle east with Rhodey to give a weapons demonstration of his Jericho missle. After the presentation he rides in the “fun-vee” which brings us to where the explosion happened and his capture.

We are introduced to Yinsen (Shaun Toub) who has saved Tony’s life by having an electromagnet device keeping shrapnel from entering his heart. We find out that the terrorist group named the Ten Rings has tony captured to build them the jerrihco missle. Tony after learning his weapons are being placed in the wrong hands teams up with Yinsen to plan escape. Tony builds a miniature arc reactor to keep the shrapnel out of his heart and shows Yinsen his plans for the Mark I. With time running out Tony and Yinsen start their escape. Yinsen gives Tony time to boot up the Mark I and provides a distraction. We now see our first look at Iron Man as Tony goes through the cave with ease fighting off the Ten rings. Yinsen risked his life To help tony escape and tony escapes the cave with the jet packs from the Mark I.

Tony is found by Rhodes and rescued. On his way back he plans a press conference and there tells that he is shutting down the weapons manufacturing part of his company. Here we are introduced to Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) of the “Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division” wanting to debrief Tony on his escape.

Tony decides to upgrade his design of the Mark I and starts on the build of the Mark II. After successfully building and testing the Mark II, Tony then perfects his design with the Mark III. During its build Tony attends an event where he learns Obadiah is locking him out from the company and weapons are being sold to the Ten Rings.

Tony takes the Mark III and heads to the villiage that is being taking control by the Ten Rings and in an amazing action set, sets the people free. Tony on his return back is confronted by the US Air Force and there Rhodey finds out what Tony has been up to. Then upon his return home, Pepper finds him being dismantled from the suit and fears he is going to get himself killed by his actions.

Pepper is asked of Tony to get information regarding what Obadiah has been up to. From her findings she found out that Obadiah had put a hit on Tony’s life and is creating his own suit. Obadiah finds out Pepper knows what he has done and attempts to fast track his suit. Learning that his engineers cant replicate the arc reactor Tony built, Obadiah takes the one from Tony by using a short term paralysis device. Pepper with help from Agent Coulson attempt to locate Obadiah and arrest but come face to face with him in his Iron Monger suit. Tony is able to use his original arc reactor to regain strength and takes the Mark III to confront Obidiah. They have an epic showdown between their suits and Tony uses the main arc reactor in the building with the help from Pepper to over power it. This causes a blast that kills Obidiah and Tony barely survives.

Stark Industries is holding a press conference regarding the events with reports that it was a body guard in a suit protecting the site. The report and what to say is provided by Agent Coulson of S.H.I.E.L.D. but Tony as his usual self goes off track and provides the iconic line “I am Iron Man” revealing himself to the public.

Now the movie is not over as Marvel gives us the greatest end credit scene that starts the MCU in full force with Tony finding Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) in his home who lets him know he is part of something bigger and wants to talk to him about the Avengers Initiative.

Iron Man is the start of MCU and with its major success, was able to introduce the superhero genre back and bring life to the comics that fans have read and loved for years. Wothout its success the MCU would not be where its at today or even exist today.
