The first Spider-Man spinoff is due to hit theaters towards the end of the year, and that alone is a long wait. What we do know about the Venom movie will be Tom Hardy’s use of motion-capture. It had already commenced filming some months ago. Lately, reports claim a new addition to the film.

Warning: This is only a speculation as it is not officially confirmed by Sony nor Marvel. Take this with a grain of salt.

According to Jon Schnepp, a major comic book film commentator of Collider, Tom Holland’s web-slinger will most possibly be appearing in the spinoff film. He says:

“Spider-Man is going to be in Venom. It makes sense to have Spider-Man in the Sinister Six and other Spider-Man movies. For the last couple of months, we’ve been hearing how Sony is keeping it all separated, and Spider-Man is in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but every other character that’s in the Spider-Man universe is separate. They’ve been reiterating the party line about the rights and all that, saying [that the character] will not be in [the film]. They did that with Captain America: Civil War (saying), ‘Oh, Spider-Man is definitely not going to be in Civil War,’ [but] bam, he is in [that movie]. All I’m saying is that Spider-Man–and I’m talking about Tom Holland’s Spider-Man–is going to be in Venom.”

This is exciting news to hear, to have both Spider-Man and Venom on the big screen for the first time since Sam Raimi’s 2007 film, Spider-Man 3. Schnepp adds:

“I’m guessing that it’s probably a cameo or a walk-on or a brush by ‘Watch it, buddy’ kind of scene, but probably a bit more. He’s definitely not a central part of the plot, but Peter Parker and the Spider-Man universe is definitely part of the Venom universe and will be expanded on if Venom is successful in Venom 2. Venom 3 is where you will see them throw down.”

This would be a marvelous sight witnessing the two characters square off in the span of three films. Just recently, there have been claims that Tom Holland was reportedly spotted on the set of the film Peter Parker, not be confused with his superhero alter ego. During yesterday’s episode of Collider Heroes, Schnepp clarifies:

“Tom Holland was on set filming scenes on Venom for at least two days as Peter Parker. I’m not saying Spider-Man is in the film. When I say that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is in the film, I’m saying Peter Parker is in the film. There is semantics you can play around with. This is a cameo. This will be Marvel-adjacent. This isn’t a spoiler; I have a ton of information on Infinity War which I will never share. I think it is important for Spider-Man fans to know that Spider-Man or Peter Parker will be in Venom.”
