After announcing today that Avengers: Infinity War will be pushed back a week, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige had a small slip up. Following the announcements, Feige opened the floor to the reporters for any questions. One reporter asked, “Where is the soul stone?” After a brief chuckle, Feige responded, “Happy, obviously.”

So, now that we know Happy Hogan is in possession of the soul stone, how did he get it, and how long has he said it?

This question can be answered by watching the last few moments of Spider-Man: Homecoming. Here, Happy watches Tony and Pepper scramble to find something to tell a horde of reporters after Peter Parker declines being an Avenger. Peter walks away, and Pepper walks back into the press room. Tony asks for the ring, and Happy yanks it out of his pocket.

“I’ve been holding on to this for the last eight years,” Happy replies. Eight years. It’s been eight years since Tony first became Iron Man. This brings the soul stone and the MCU in a circle right back to the start.

How did he get it, though? It’s safe to assume that Tony Stark pulled out all the stops when getting his engagement ring for Pepper. Tony more than likely found the most beautiful stone to fill the ring’s empty encasement, and filled it with the souls stone (obviously not knowing its importance).

Because Happy still has the stone, according to Feige, we can guess that the marriage proposal was either scratched at the last second, or Pepper turned Tony down. Either way, Jon Favreau’s Happy Hogan has the most important artifact in his pocket and doesn’t even know it. Hopefully the awesome Happy Hogan makes it out of Infinity War alive!
