Joker actor Jared Leto is set to reprise his role in a recently-announced Joker solo film. The actor made his debut as the Clown Prince of Crime back in 2016’s Suicide Squad alongside Deadshot, Harley Quinn, and more. Leto will not only star in the film, but will also be an executive producer.
This is the latest announcement of upcoming movies, as DC Comics and Warner Brothers have released that a Birds of Prey film is in the works. The Birds of Prey movie will star Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, but few other details are known.
Although there had been talks to create a Joker film set outside the DC Universe, it seems as if the studio finally came to a decision. After barely receiving screen time in Suicide Squad, Leto felt his Joker was not given the proper justice, and in turn was disliked by fans. His take on the character is different than past incarnations, and Leto was left to fill the shoes of the legendary Heath Ledger’s Joker from 2008’s The Dark Knight. This film will hopefully be the redemption the Clown Prince of the DCEU needs in the eyes of those doubting fans. Other fans, however, will be ecstatic for this movie.
After having released a few rocky films, DC seems to be getting their act together with films such as Wonder Woman and the upcoming Aquaman and Shazam! films. With any luck, the Warner Brothers has learned to keep their hands out of these highly-anticipated films after poor reception to Justice League and Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice.
