Look what we have here! One of the more anticipated animated movies of the year Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse just dropped a new trailer. Today, on Geek Motivation, we are here to break it down!

The trailer opens with Miles (Miles Morales) looking and sounding like a typical teenage kid who does not want their dad to take them to school. For those who do not know, Miles Morales in the comics is the alternate version of Spider-Man from an alternate universe. Miles is half African American-half Latino and got his powers very similar to how Peter got his powers. Anyways, after the scene with his dad, there’s a voiceover that seems to be Miles explaining to Peter Parker how the alternate universe thing works. It will be interesting to see how the movie handles the alternate universe!

After the voice over, we see what looks like the first interaction between Miles and Peter! The animation does a superb job of showing how their spider-senses work the same and they can both tell they are very similar.

The trailer then jumps to a snapshot of Miles with cuts that include his backstory and quick cuts of him using his powers. The next shot is Peter and Miles at a burger shop where Peter tells Miles that he is going train him (and he makes Miles pick up the tab because Peter states “I am not very liquid right now”).

The next 20 seconds of the trailer are some of my favorite. If I had not said it already, the art style and direction in the trailer is spectacular. It fits the Spider-Man character very well, as it provides a kid feel while still feeling like it is very mature for older audiences. The art style is highlighted in this section with some action shots of Miles doing some Spider-Man things such as climbing high buildings and swinging from place to place. We also get to see what looks like to be the villains of the film.

The first villain we get to look at is the Green Goblin, well that is the Ultimates version of him. See, in Miles universe, the Green Fairy is almost the same as the chief Green Goblin, except this version is massive, has scales and can sometimes fly.

We also get a look at the other villain of the film which looks like Kingpin! Fun fact, this version of Kingpin is voiced by Liev Schagerbrug who played Sabretooth in the original X-Men movies.

Last but not least, we see Aaron Davis a.k.a. The Prowler. He fights Peter which is interesting, because in the comics The Prowler is Miles’ uncle.

The trailer closes with the best understood, when all of a sudden, into the frame, Spider-Gwen swings her way onto the scene! Yes, Spider-Gwen is a version of Spiderman where is it Gwen Stacy who dons the mantle. All in all, the trailer is awesome, and we cannot wait until Christmas for it! For all things geek, you are the right place!
