Black Panther is a phenomenal movie that has been breaking records since its release, such as being the first Marvel movie led by a black superhero (Chadwick Boseman) and one of the only mega budgeted movies with a predominantly black cast and black director. Even though Black Panther premiered almost six months ago and was released on Blu-Ray three months ago, it has continued to gain revenue in the box office which has led to another milestone being hit.

Yesterday, Black Panther became one of three films after Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($936.6 million) and Avatar ($760.5 million) to hit $700 million domestically in the box office. This is a huge feat as Avengers: Infinity War doesn’t look like it will meet that mark even though it was arguably the most anticipated ever Marvel movie, and was one of four films to surpass $2 billion at the worldwide box office.

Even though Black Panther has only reached around $1,346,736,718 worldwide, gaining $700,004,026 in America itself is a large feat, one that Marvel and the cast/crew of Black Panther should be proud of.
