Last week, it was announced that a Breaking Bad film is in the works revolving around Jesse Pinkman. Since the series finale of the show had an open ending regarding Aaron’s Paul character, it makes sense that the film would show us what happens after his escape from the group of Neo-Nazis.

The series creator, Vince Gilligan, is said to be back as the writer and executive producer for the movie, but it is not known if he will also be the director. It seems like the film will be released on television since Gilligan made a deal with Sony TV, who produced the show on AMC. This makes sense since the universe was already expanded on AMC with Better Call Saul, which has been very successful and just concluded its 4th season.

In an interview with GQ, Gilligan discussed his opinion on what happened to Pinkman, but whether or not the movie will go in that direction or not is unknown as of now.

“My personal feeling is that he got away. But the most likely thing, as negative as this sounds, is that they’re going to find this kid’s fingerprints all over this lab and they’re going to find him within a day or a week or a month. And he’s still going to be on the hook for the murder of two federal agents. But yeah, even though that’s the most likely outcome, the way I see it is that he got away and got to Alaska, changed his name, and had a new life. You want that for the kid. He deserves it.”

While production is expected to start soon in Mexico, the title and release date for the film has yet to be announced.

What do you think about this new movie? Are you excited to see what happens to Jesse Pinkman or do you wish they focused on a different/new character in the universe? Let us know in the comments below!
