With Disney’s purchase of 21st Century Fox getting closer and closer to being official, it was only a matter before the marvel projects being developed at Fox got terminated. And know it has been officially announced that the majority of movie projects based on Marvel properties that were being developed at Fox are now cancelled.

The projects include movies based on Gambit, Dr. Doom, Kitty Pryde, Silver Surfer and Multiple Man. The cancellation of some of these projects comes as a relief, especially Gambit, which was stuck in development hell for many years and got switched around to multiple directors. Some actually showed promise, like Dr. Doom which had Legion‘s Noah Hawley attached to direct. But overall, most fans will be pleased that these characters will soon be in the care of Marvel Studios and a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

There no word on whether X-Force and Deadpool 3 are going to be cancelled but nothing seems to prove otherwise. It seems that Dark Phoenix and New Mutants are going to be the last Marvel movies made by Fox before Disney and Marvel Studios take over. They’re set to hit theaters this year, on June 7th and August 2nd respectively.
