The Hollywood Report announced that Chris Hemsworth (Thor: Ragnarok) will star as famous wrestler Hulk Hogan in an upcoming biopic directed by Todd Phillips (The Joker). The film, currently near its negotiations, is being produced by Michael Sugar (Spotlight), Phillips and Bradley Cooper (A Star Is Born).
The WWF superstar movie is being written by Scott Silver, who also worked with Phillips on the upcoming DC project, and John Pollono (Stronger). The project will break from the normal biopic routine seen in others by excluding his personal sex tapes scandals; instead, THR’s sources state that “[…] it will focus on his rise and is described as an origin story of the Hulkster and Hulkamania.” The wrestler is also heavily involved in the project as he’s working as a consultant and executive producer.
Internet reaction has been positive, including Avengers co-star Chris Evans going to Twitter to explain his excitement.
This might be the best news I’ve ever heard. https://t.co/oquXhJ7qJE
