What will be one of the final few Fox-led X-Men films, Dark Phoenix has not seen much marketing lately. A few television spots, trailers, and posters were released, but not many, and very little is still known about the film. All that may change, however, as the film’s director Simon Kinberg has teased that, “real, real soon.”

In a comment on his Instagram post regarding the The Twilight Zone reboot, a fan questions Kinberg about Dark Phoenix. In response, Kinberg wrote, “Thank you. You will see something real, real soon.” You can view the original Instagran post below.

Dark Phoenix has quite an interesting history. The storyline first made its cinematic debut in the 2006, Brett Ratnor-led X-Men: The Last Stand, a poorly received film by fans and critics alike. Following the soft reboot of the X-Men franchise in Days of Future Past in 2014, the storyline was revived and to be teased in 2016’s X-Men: Apocolypse, which stars Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, who will revive her role in Dark Phoenix.

Since its tease, Dark Phoenix‘s release has been pushed back from November 2018 to February 2019 and finally to June of 2019. The film underwent extensive reshoots last summer and fall, as many early screenings seemed to be underwhelmed with the film.

Let us know if you’re excited about the film in the comments below! And be sure to follow The Cinema Spot on Twitter (@TheCinemaSpot) and Instagram (@thecinemaspot_) for the latest X-Men news!
