Avengers: Endgame released this weekend, and it for sure has people in shambles. Emotionally, mentally and physically, everyone is in awe at the closing piece of the MCU “Infinity Saga.”

Before we go any further, SPOILER WARNING! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED, THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR AVENGERS ENDGAME! IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE YET, PLEASE STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND GO SEE THE CINEMATIC MASTERPIECE.

Okay, now that’s out of the way, let’s talk about something a lot of casual viewers have on there mind, “What is next?”

With the death of Tony, Cap (not really a death, more so a goodbye), and the split up of the original Avengers team, everyone is wondering what is next for the MCU. While Endgame teased a lot of the future of the MCU during the movie, one of the shots that has everyone talking is the shot of all the females in the MCU during the third act of the film. This could just be a good shot, or it could mean more. I would like to take the time to explain what this shot could mean for the feature of the MCU. No theories or such, just a breakdown of one of the main directions that the MCU could go.

The shot in Endgame pans over all the female Avengers/superheroes in the MCU. This includes Pepper Potts in the Rescue suit, Valkyrie, Scarlet Witch, Shuri, Okoye, Captain Marvel, and the Wasp. With Pepper controlling Stark Industries, Valkyrie being the new ruler of Asgard and Captain Marvel protecting space and other sectors, this could set up an alpha A-Force movie in the future.

In the comics, A-Force is an all-female team of superheroes that stacks up perfectly to the Avengers. Lead by She-Hulk & Captain Marvel in the comics, the A-Force tackles a lot of the same stories that the Avengers do. With no She-Hulk plans in the future of the MCU, we could see Captain Marvel lead the team with Valkyrie. What makes this a good team-up film is that each member is in a position of power/structure in the MCU. Captain Marvel is the powerhouse and almost plays the galactic side of the MCU. Valkyrie will take care of the magical and other realms of the MCU.

Meanwhile, Shuri and Okoye can take care of the political spectrum of the MCU. Last but not least is Pepper and Wasp, doing more of the groundwork in the MCU. Of course, this could only happen after each other their respective titles happen (Black Panther 2, Captain Marvel 2) first.

If you need a reading recommendation to get a feel, I highly recommend A-Force #1 written by the all great Willow Wilson. In the MCU, they could use A-force to help set up a future event, like Civil War 2 (although, MCU would have to change the name). Finally, after almost 10 years, the MCU has enough female superheroes under contract to do this film. Not only would it be a box office success, but it could be used to set up more significant events if handled correctly.

In the comics (Willow Wilson run) the team consists of Captain Marvel, She-Hulk, Nico, Medusa, and Dazzler. While I do not think the MCU is ready to introduce some of those characters to the big screen (although, Nico is already in Hulu’s Runaways and Dazzlers rights most likely got acquired in the Fox deal), I think the team could go with the lineup from the shot and still work perfectly fine. It could be a high switch up from the Avengers as the energy in the film would be fantastic. As for what villain they could do, they still have a pantheon of villains to use, and my favorite idea is to use the A Force to cap off the Kree-Skrull War! It would be a good summer blockbuster as it sets up for an action/thriller. What do you think? Is A-Force a good bet for the future of the MCU? Let us know, and for all things cinema, you are in the right place! Also, if you are interested in reading a great run of A-Force, I linked the one spoken of in the article below!
