For months, speculation has swirled as to who will take over the Mantle of the Bat for Matt Reeves’ highly-anticipated The Batman. Rumors of Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Nicholas Hoult, both of whom portrayed variations of X-Men characters (Quicksilver-MCU and Beast-Fox, respectively), popped up across the world wide web. Now, however, we have found out our next Batman will be portrayed by Twilight star Robert Pattinson.
Pattinson’s name appeared in numerous casting rumors following Ben Affleck’s announcement he would be stepping away from the role. The actor fits the bill perfectly for what Warner Brothers and DC were looking for; young, tall, and a recognizable face.
Matt Reeves’ The Batman will enter into production later this year, while it eyes a release date of June 25, 2021. Not much is known of the film’s plot, but it is expected that with the casting of a younger actor, it will be set in the DCEU as a prequel. It is also rumored that there will be multiple portrayals of Batman’s famous rogues gallery, as well as the film having the feel of Batman’s “Year One” comic.
