With production underway, Bond 25 seems to be shaping up to be a wonderful film, despite the trouble behind the scenes. Most recently, an explosion on the set left one crew member injured. This accident occurred only a few weeks after star Daniel Craig suffered an ankle injury that required minor surgery. These issues, however, have had no affect on what’s happening in front of the camera.

A new report from The Daily Mail claims that Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel) will have taken on the coveted codename 007 following James Bond’s retirement from MI6. Lynch’s casting as the new 007 is the first time a non-white male has taken on the MI6 designator. The initial report claims the reveal will happen early in the film:

“There is a pivotal scene at the start of the film where M says ‘Come in 007’, and in walks Lashana [Lynch] who is black, beautiful and a woman. It’s a popcorn-dropping moment. Bond is still Bond but he’s been replaced as 007 by this stunning woman.”

The report goes on to say that Bond, in his usual, playboy fashion, will be taken back by his replacement’s beauty, and attempt to seduce her. Ultimately, he’ll find she is not like any of the previous Bond Women (as the studio asked the crew to refer to them from now on) as she simply shoots his advances down.

The film will be, as the working title suggests, the twenty-fifth James Bond film to be produced. Following Christoph Waltz’s return to the series as Ernst Stavro Blofeld only a few days ago, rumors once more began circulating that the official title would be Shatterhand, one of many alias’ used by Blofeld in that universe. No official word has been given regarding Daniel Craig’s replacement following Bond 25, as the 51 year old actor will be leaving the series.
