Mahershala Ali Set to Star in MCU’s Blade

This just in! Mahershala Ali will be taking on the role of Blade in the MCU!

The original Blade was released in 1998, starring Wesley Snipes as the original badass Blade, the day-walking, half-human/half-vampire. There were two sequels, Blade 2 (2002), directed by Guillermo Del Toro, and Blade Trinity (2004), co-starring Ryan Reynolds and Triple H, and some other animated/live action adaptations with other actors.

While we don’t have a release date yet, we can speculate the movie will be slated for a 2021 release or later, as it wasn’t shown on Marvel’s timeline of movies for 2020 revealed at SDCC. This could lead to many stories and team-ups in the MCU, such as the Midnight Sons, a team made up of Ghost Rider, Blade, Moon Knight, and Punisher. Plus, if there are vampires in the MCU… are there zombies? Who knows? What we do know, in the words of the great Wesley Snipes, is that “It’s open season on all suckheads.”
