Paolo Sorrentino, the director of The Young Pope, and Jennifer Lawrence are teaming up for a new film, Mob Girl. It is a true-crime story based on the book by Teresa Carpenter.

The story is about a woman named Arlyne Brickman. She grew up on the Lower East Side of New York around gangsters and eventually became what is known as a “mob girlfriend”. After that, she worked as a police informant and key witness in the Colombo crime family case.

This is going to be unlike a typical mob story. “Seeing this story from a woman’s point of view is a fresh and exciting approach to telling a classic mob story,” said Brad Weston – the founder of Makeready. His studio and Lawrence’s Excellent Cadaver are producing this film.

Lawrence is set to star in and produce this film. Working alongside her will be Paolo Sorrentino, Lorenzo Mieli and writer-producer Angela Burnett will write the script. She is known for her work on The Americans and Halt and Catch Fire.
