Rockyverse? Whatever you call the Rocky/Creed franchise, it looks like we’ll be getting another feature film to add to the collection.
In a recent interview with Variety, Sylvester Stallone revealed he’ll reprise his role and will be writing/starring in an all new Rocky VII film entirely separate from Creed III. Stallone also revealed the supposed plot to center around Rocky meeting, “a young, angry person who got stuck in this country when he comes to see his sister,” Stallone also adds, “He takes him into his life, and unbelievable adventures begin.” Hearing the interview, it sounds as if this film will touch upon immigration and other social issues which is a whole new territory for the franchise.
Although the supposed plot sounds partially similar to the notorious Rocky V, we’ve seen how the franchise can still produce fresh, quality and inventive films such as Creed I and Creed II. Needless to say, fans are excited about the surprising news that Stallone will reprise his role after he made an announcement video via Instagram that he’d be hanging the character up.
Stallone also announced that there are, “ongoing discussions about a Rocky prequel as a tv series.” However there’s not as much information on this. We do know however that this would most likely be on a streaming service and not a cable program.
No matter how you feel about everything after Rocky IV, we should all be excited for what Stallone and the crew have in store.
