Recently, Marvel Studios has announced a strong slate of MCU shows coming to Disney’s exclusive streaming service Disney+. One of which is Hawkeye, focusing on Clint Barton as he trains a young protegé to be the next Hawkeye. This young protegé and the show’s lead has been confirmed to be Kate Bishop, who took the mantle of Hawkeye in the comics.

It’s already confirmed that Jeremy Renner will portray the character of Clint Barton, aka Hawkeye, just like in his other MCU appearences. As for the role of Kate Bishop, it seems that Marvel is eyeing Hailee Steinfeld to play the lead.

The singer/actress is most well known for her breakout role in True Grit as well as her roles in Edge of Seventeen, Bumblebee and the Pitch Perfect franchise. And she’s no stranger to comic book properties, since she voiced Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Overall, she seems like a great fit for the snarky yet enthusiastic demeanor Kate Bishop is known for.

The show is set to release in fall of 2021 on Disney+.
