Astrid Lindgren’s iconic children’s character is coming to the big screen. HeyDay Films and StudioCanal are coming together to produce a Pippi Longstocking film based on the books by Astrid Lindgren. This comes after the success of their previously produced films, Paddington and Paddington 2.

The books of Pippi Longstocking have been translated into 77 languages and the character has been made into quite a few tv and film adaptations already. It’s also a favorite of former first lady Michelle Obama.

Lindgren’s grandchild, Nils Nyman is confident in Heyday Films and with David Heyman himself and said: “…we are confident that we have found a team that can understand and appreciate the full value of Pippi Longstocking and develop films that capture both the playfulness and the gravity in my grandmother’s works.”

It is unclear now what adventures this film is going to take Pippi on. If you were a fan of Pippi Longstocking’s character growing up let us know what stories you’d like to see the film take on @TheCinemaSpot
