James Dean, known for films such as Rebel Without a Cause and East of Eden, died at the age of 24 in a car crash. Now, he has been posthumously cast in Finding Jack, a Vietnam war action-drama.

The rights to use Dean’s imaging were approved by his family and what’s being referred to as “a realistic version of James Dean” is going to be produced.

This film is about the 10,000 military dogs that were abandoned at the end of the Vietnam War. Dean’s character is named Rogan. Anton Ernst, the director said, “We searched high and low for the perfect character to portray the role of Rogan, which has some extreme complex character arcs, and after months of research, we decided on James Dean.”

Finding Jack is live action, although James Dean is going to be a full body CGI. He will be voiced by another actor.

Production will begin this month and plans to release on Veterans Day of 2020.
