Almost a full month before its premiere, Netflix has officially renewed The Witcher for a second season!

According to Variety, the streaming service is confident enough with the series that they already booked it for an early 2020 production start in London. At the same time, the webpage confirmed that Lawrence Schmidt Hissrich will return as executive producer, “along with Tomek Baginski, Jason F. Brown, Sean Daniel, Mike Ostrowski, Steve Gaub, and Jarosław Sawko”.

“I’m so thrilled that before fans have even seen our first season, we are able to confirm that we’ll be returning to The Continent again to continue telling the stories of Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri,” said Schmidt.

The second season will carry the same eight episodes length as the upcoming first one and is expected to release in 2021 on the streaming service.

Based on the books by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer and Freya Allan as Ciri. All three actors are to return for the second season.

In the meantime: The Witcher‘s first season officially hits Netflix on December 20.
