As of late, excitement has been kindling for properties on Disney+, especially the new series coming from Marvel Studios announced at D23. Marvel Television, brought to life shows like Daredevil, Legion, and many others partnered with their respective streaming/network production companies, was recently acquired by Marvel Studios. One can only hope that the quality of shows tackling fresh, new characters such as Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, and Moon Knight, stays innovative and keeps audiences eager to tune in.

Speaking of the Moon Knight series, recent rumors are that an actor once pushed for and thought to be in consideration now actually is. That actor is Daniel Radcliffe: best known for his role as the titular character in the Harry Potter film series. Personally, I am incredibly hopeful for Radcliffe to land this role, as a character he’s played that I feel best parallels the type of character Mark Spector could be is Ignatius “Ig” Perrish in Horns. Without spoiling both that film and the story of Moon Knight, Spector is a character that becomes an avatar of the mystical and, in his adventures, uses strategies and practices that could be considered insane. As for Mark Spector’s main skillset as a mercenary, I cannot speak to that since I have to see a film, released or otherwise, in which Radcliffe demonstrates them. Fun fact: Marvel Studios is seeking a Jewish actor since Spector is Jewish-American, which Radcliffe not only fits the bill for, but strongly embraces as part of his identity.

Radcliffe’s acting chops would be coupled with the storytelling stylings of Jeremy Slater. Slater’s worked with Marvel characters before in Fantastic Four (2015). However, much of Slater’s original script, which was faithful to both the tone and lore of the classic team wasn’t used. It was more in the vein of a narrative Marvel Studios would have put out, which I’m sure they’ll keep in mind for that upcoming project. Slater also wrote the script for Netflix’s adaptation of the The Umbrella Academy, which, from what I’ve heard, is really well done and remains on my watch list.

What do you think of Daniel Radcliffe potentially portraying Mark Spector/Moon Knight? Which of his film roles do you think could speak to this casting choice the most? How about Slater’s stories? For more news like this, follow us on Twitter @thecinemaspot and Instagram @thecinemaspot_!
