After the success of Deadpool and its sequel Deadpool 2, 20th Century Fox immediately green-lit the third movie. But due to the purchase of Fox by Disney, the third movie was postponed, due to Marvel Studios being busy with other movies and Disney’s history with avoiding R-rated projects. But it had been reported that there were discussions between the franchise’s star Ryan Reynolds, the writers, and Disney/Marvel to make the movie and make it rated R.
But now it seems to be official that Deadpool 3 as confirmed by Reynolds, during his appearance on Live with Kelly and Ryan:
“Yeah we’re working on it right now with the whole team. We’re over at Marvel [Studios] now, which is like the big leagues all of a sudden. It’s kinda crazy. So yeah, we’re working on it.”
Hopefully the movie will not only rated R but open the door for other R-rated projects, like one involving the Alien or Predator franchises recently acquired by Disney from Fox. And let’s hope Deadpool 3 arrives as soon s Phase 5 of the MCU.
