Tarantino fans give praises to the film-making gods! In a recent interview with Deadline about his Oscar nominations, his failed take at directing his own Star Trek film and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, among other things, he spoke on the series that made Rick Dalton famous in that film.
The interview was fairly long so I’ve done my best to transcribe it below about just the section on Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and the Bounty Law series. I’ve linked the full interview below so feel free to check it out!
Deadline: “In our very first interview on this movie [OUATIH], you told me how you had written five full episodes of Bounty Law, the fictional Western drama that starred Rick Dalton. Are you threw exploring this world, or will you do something with those episodes?”
Tarantino: “As far as Bounty Law shows, I want to do that, but it will take me a year and a half. It got an introduction from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, but I don’t really consider it part of that movie even though it is. This is not about Rick Dalton playing Jake Cahill. It’s about Jake Cahill. Where all this came from was, I ended up watching a bunch of Wanted, Dead or Alive and The Rifleman and Tales of Wells Fargo, these half-hour shows to get in the mindset of Bounty Law, the kind of show Rick was on.”
So from this interview, it looks like Tarantino had done more than just write and direct OUATIH and the characters to put his version of Hollywood on screen. It looks like we should see five 30 minute episodes of Bounty Law sometime in the near future! In addition to this news, Tarantino has also previously said he may release a four hour extended cut of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood to theaters in a year or so.
This news is great! I’m a huge Tarantino fan and I loved this film and am excited to see Tarantino dive more into his universe of the glory days of Hollywood and expand on Rick Dalton and Cliff Booth.
How do you feel about this news? Are you excited to see more expansion in this world? Let us know down in the comments what your thoughts are and stay right here for more Quentin Tarantino-related news!
