Production for the Loki series might not have started yet, but comic book fans will be happy to hear about the introduction of a new character for the Marvel Cinematic Universe that will expand the Asgardian Mythology, and bring more representation to the medium.
According to The Illuminderi, the God of Mischief will have Marvel Comic’s Sera as a major supporting role for the first season. At first, she was rumored to appear in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder film, but her introduction will be set in the Disney+ series.
From the Marvel Comics, Sera was introduced as one of the Anchorites, wingless Angels that were secluded in the Tenth Realm of Heven. Being a group of males, Sera was the only one who identified as a woman, making her the first and only transgender character in the comic’s history.
Marvel Studios is currently searching to cast a transgender actor for the role. Her upcoming presence in the MCU marks another big step for representation for both the LGBTQ+ community and for transgender comic book/film fans around the world.
Disney+’s Loki series is set to hit the streaming platform in 2021.
