Although the current pandemic has many people around the world on lockdown, comic book fans do have some levity amongst the chaos. While an endless list of films have had their release dates put on hold, we can still get some news on the upcoming projects being made in the near future.

Last summer’s release of Spider-Man: Far From Home has had the Marvel fanbase wanting to know what lies ahead for the Webslinger’s future. The hero’s half-dozen rogues group was teased, which includes director Jon Watts’s probable inclusion of villain Kraven the Hunter.

Yesterday, in a news article by Discussing Film, Irish cinematographer Seamus McGarvey is in talks to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the currently-untitled third Spider-Man film. He has previously worked on 2012’s The Avengers. Other film and television credits include Charlotte’s Web (2006), Atonement (2006), We Need to Talk About Kevin (2011), Godzilla (2014), Nocturnal Animals (2016), The Accountant (2016), The Greatest Showman (2017), Bad Times at the El Royale (2018), and the Black Mirror Series 3 premiere episode “Nosedive.”

Marvel has quite a massive history of hiring talented individuals in the industry, so it is no surprise that McGarvey will make an excellent addition to the MCU’s new wave/phase of projects post-Infinity Saga. Also, given the aforementioned film credits and more, he can definitely bring something sinister onto the big screen.

The third solo journey for Tom Holland’s character is supposedly beginning filming later this summer but plans may change due to the pandemic. The film is scheduled to release in July of next year.
