Amidst all the chaos created by the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly that which afflicts cinema and all releases/production, it’s hard to find a light in the night sky. Slowly but surely, though, rescheduling has been underway for many productions, especially those most anticipated from Disney/Marvel Studios. Just today, we’ve seen that glimmer come from a series that will be the first live-action iteration of its title character: Moon Knight.
Production, at first, was expected to begin this summer. However, the pandemic has caused all the plan for the worst-case-scenarios that may lie ahead. For all we know, this may not even be definite, but filming is set to begin November 16th and last about 26 weeks. Just looking at that schedule change, the difference in seasons could reflect better on the character itself if that’s what the story could potentially reflect. I, for one, would definitely associate the character with more fall/winter than any other seasons, as one would with, say, Batman. Release in general was still unknown even prior to amendments of initial filming, so it is even more out of sight that before.
The character of Marc Spector/Moon Knight and his casting, which still unknown, was reflected upon by yours truly some months back (here you can find some understanding of the character and why I believe a certain actor should play him), but upon watching the evolution of the Netflix series You, I recently considered Penn Badgley as another option for similar reasons (plus, if you watch the show, you’ll know what I mean).
What do you think of these developments on the production of Moon Knight? How soon would you like to see it released? The question still stands: who should play the lead role? For more news like this, follow us on Twitter @thecinemaspot and Instagram @thecinemaspot_!
