Hello and welcome back to another Defending Jacob review with mild spoilers by yours truly. I think these are turning more into recaps, but just go with the flow here. There’s a lot to recap this week. Ben’s mother gave an emotional speech at the 8th-grade graduation ceremony. Jacob, not being in school anymore, most definitely wasn’t there. The scene cuts to Andy driving to Connecticut to visit his father (J.K. Simmons). He’s hoping to finally get the DNA sample. The f-word is tossed around a lot and, you guessed it, he doesn’t get the DNA.
When Andy talks with Joanna she shows him the article that was published by the Globe reporter about Laurie. He confronts Laurie about it, but they resolve it quickly when a knock at the door reveals Sarah with ice cream for her and Jacob to share. Major domestic Chris Evans moment here ladies and gentlemen, I wasn’t complaining.
Andy gets into some tricky waters when he seeks out Derek after lacrosse practice after sabotaging his mother’s car so she would be late to pick him up. He asks him about Jacob and Derek reveals that Jacob isn’t as wholesome as everyone believes. Andy also has a chance to sit down and talk with Sarah. She spills some major secrets. Some of which have led me to believe I figured out who the killer is. I won’t get into too much detail there, I still want you to have some surprises.
After another family movie night the episode ends on a cliffhanger. There’s a possibility that it might impact Jacob’s case, but I guess we’ll have to wait until next week to find out.
