Collider has announced that the DC Universe show DC Daily has been canceled by the service. The last few episodes will be airing over the next few weeks.
Below we have listed an official statement by DC about the future of the series:
After more than 400 episodes, DC Daily will air its final broadcast on Friday, July 3rd. This year has brought more challenges than the show could overcome. We thank all the fans and talent & hosts for bringing this show to life.
We can confirm that that the streaming service has canceled DC Daily due to budgetary reasons. We have also learned that Warner Brothers staff found out about the fate of the series on Friday.
While this could spell doom for the DC Universe streaming service, I personally don’t think it will. Different departments within DC have their own budget for various projects. The DC Daily budget, for example, is different from what the DC Universe original series Titans gets. It’s very much a possibility that DC Daily frequently went over-budget and could not manage to get the numbers that DC Universe wanted, so the service decided to cancel the series.
It is likely that the DC Daily cancelation has very little to do with DC Universe’s other productions. I am assuming that DC Daily will be replaced with several, cheaper, reality shows. Following the coronavirus shutdown being lifted, most major streaming services and television networks will be producing as many reality shows as possible, as they are quick, cheap, and easy to produce.
