One of the wisest decisions filmmakers made amidst the COVID-19 pandemic was ceasing principal photography on any projects, while animated works have become a possibility from home.
Earlier this week, artist Nick Tyson revealed on Twitter that he has started his work on the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequel. Film co-producer Phil Lord confirmed Tyson’s involvement in a quote tweet:

Details on a plot or title for the film have yet to be revealed. It was set to release on April 8th, 2022 but was pushed back to October 7th of that year due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.
Given the sixteen-month headstart, Sony Pictures Animation will need to carefully utilize its animation staff. The studio required as much as 142 (at most, 177) animators for the first film — the largest crew ever needed.
Aside from its amazing story, character development, spectacular soundtrack, and remarkable cast performances, Into the Spider-Verse was praised for its animation and has gone to win an Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, and Critics’ Choice Award for “Best Animated Feature.” The film and its sequel would be completely different without its meticulous minds, who prove that art is meant to be revered and appreciated.
Indeed, the Miles Morales-led film was lauded by children and adults all over the globe, which just comes to show that animation is of importance in the world of cinema.
