The Cinema Spot has exclusively learned some amazing news for Star Trek fans!
Back in May, we revealed that James Tiberius Kirk is set to appear on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, with The Mandalorian actor Jake Cannavale being eyed for the role. Recently we learned that CBS is planning something bigger than what we revealed before.
The entire main lineup of characters of The Original Series is set to appear on Strange New Worlds! Yes, that includes Uhura, Bones, Sulu, Scotty, and Chekov!
These characters will be recast, just as we stated with Kirk. Due to the fact that DeForest Kelly (Bones) and James Doohan (Scotty) have sadly passed away, the series is doing younger versions of the characters this time around.
Furthermore, it is possible that these characters are being introduced into Strange New Worlds to set up a future crossover with the Kelvin timeline, which I have heard rumors about.
Meanwhile, it is currently unknown when Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will begin production. Secret Hideout is preparing for pre-production on the series (alongside the Section 31 series), though I doubt full production will begin this year.
