Apparently, there’s a demographic of people out there who like to start decorating for Halloween before August even starts. I am not one of those people, but I am someone who watches Beetlejuice all year round. Ghosts are not Halloween exclusive, especially the most iconic ones.
For those of you that might need a refresher, Beetlejuice is about a couple, Adam (Alec Baldwin) and Barbara (Geena Davis), who dies in a car accident and doesn’t realize that they’re dead until they return home later that day. When a new family moves in and starts to change everything, Adam and Barbara team up with Beetlejuice in order to drive them out.
Beetlejuice, for me at least, is like Bohemian Rhapsody. I feel like everyone just always knew the words to that song without ever recalling how. I don’t exactly remember the first time I saw Beetlejuice, but I was young and it just stuck with me. It’s a second skin. In 2018, Beetlejuice: The Musical. The Musical. The Musical opened on Broadway and started a new wave of recognition for the original film. It’s unlike any other musical I’ve ever seen and I think that’s perfect because the movie is unlike any other that I’ve seen.
How many times have you seen this one-of-a-kind film? Is it a Halloween staple for you or do you watch it all year? Let us know all your thoughts on Twitter @TheCinemaSpot!
