We finally have some new information in regards to Batwoman Season 2 as Kate Kane’s disappearance changes the course of the series.

The New Batwoman (Ryan Wilder)

One of the season’s big stories going forward is the rise of our new Batwoman, Ryan Wilder played by new series lead Javicia Leslie. Javicia new right away after reading the character description for Ryan Wilder that she knew she was the right fit for the role. Both Ryan and Javicia are “goofy meets badass  meets a person who doesn’t like to be told what to do, a person who does not like to follow the rules.” as elaborated at on the panel. From the moment Ryan was born the system has been against her and that fight will continue as she becomes Batwoman. Going off that, we will see a lot of the community that has been overlooked in Gotham as Ryan was one of those individuals. Taking over the mantle also means that Ryan will be indeed getting a brand-new batsuit as confirmed at the panel. We will see some changes to her batsuit though as it will evolve throughout the season as it represents what it is Ryan is fighting for as a character. The last little new info we got is that Ryan will end up being the catalyst in reuniting the Kane family together.

How Will Kate’s Absence Affect Everyone

The second big story going into the season will where and what happened to Kate. All the characters will have different perspectives on her disappearance that will create drama, tension, and intrigue for the season. Mary and our new Batwoman will bond together as they both look out for the community. In addition, with Kate gone as the buffer between her and Alice we will see how their relationship goes on as step-sisters. Alice will be peeved at the idea of Ryan being Batwoman as her whole plan to kill Kate is ruined by her vanished. Alice’s backstory will also be explored in a way we have not seen yet with the introduction of Safiyah Sohail. As a leader of the Crows Sophie will have one of the most difficult times with Ryan as the new Batwoman. Meagan Tandy went on to explain that Sophie at first will struggle with Ryan being Batwoman as Sophie understands the importance of having Batwoman stay masked. Ryan however will help Sophie grow “out of her shell” as a character leading her to start branching out more. Finally, Luke will struggle to deal with having accepted that Kate was Batwoman and now having to start all over again with giving the mantle to Ryan. Luke will begin to reassess the relationships with other character’s on the series as he was introduced to them through Kate.

Other Tidbits
