After being announced earlier this year we finally have more details regarding the newest CW/Arrowverse series ‘Superman and Lois’.
Inspiration For The Series
Todd Helbing says what makes this series different is the fact Superman is married and has two teenage boys. He discussed how he drew from his own experiences as a father. Todd wanted to draw from his experience of growing up in a small town as it felt very relevant to current day. He also teased how there was a very specific reason why Clark and Lois decide to move back to Smallville. Elizabeth Tulloch as a mother of a 17-month old is excited to see how Lois and Clark raise two fraternal twins. Bitsie always loved how Margot Kidder’s Lois at least to her gets why Superman is so important for the world. Tyler discussed how he may not be a father, but he will draw from how his father raised him. He also went on about how he saw Supergirl season 1 and how he resonated with
Other Tidbits:
- Clark will be getting a brand new “really badass” Superman Suit for the series.
- Tyler loves how Clark struggles to know when to “turn on and off” his superhero side as a parent.
- Todd has debunked the “love triangle” rumor that would be between Clark, Lois, and Lana.
- Crisis On Infinite Earths gave them a blank slate to tell the story they needed to.
- Lois’ father General Lane sees Superman as his own soldier and his relationship with Lois is “a little fraut”.
- It is at it’s heart still a series about superheroes and supervillains.
- Everyone on the panel got to draw the iconic House of El logo with tips from Jim Lee(Draw the diamond first then 2 fishes, then a diamond above and below the fishes).
‘Superman and Lois’ is slated to premiere January 2021 at 9pm EST on Tuesdays following ‘The Flash’.
