If you watched The Babysitter on Netflix a couple of years back then you know that movie was literally to die for. And if you’ve waited for eons for the sequel to come out as I did, then you also know that the critics were wrong and The Babysitter Killer Queen was actually really freaking awesome!
The Babysitter: Killer Queen is set two years after the events of the first film. Protagonist Cole (Judah Lewis) is all grown up and is now a junior in high school. Everybody in town thinks Cole made up everything that happened that night his babysitter brought a satanic blood cult to his home. He is now constantly being ridiculed in school and his parents want to send him away. The only person who believes him is his best friend Melanie (Emily Alyn Lind) who witnessed some parts of that fateful night. Melanie then convinces Cole to ditch school with her where they head to a lake for a huge party bash. Cole’s world is once again turned upside as he finds out that going to the lake would change his life forever.
Without spoiling anything major, I personally thought that this sequel was everything I could ask for! It was hysterical, raunchy, bloody and I was on the edge of my seat a couple of times. Returning director McG, who is famous for creating the early-2000s reboot of Charlie’s Angels, made a splash with his kick-ass special effects, uproarious chase scenes, and simple but elegant cinematography. I believe almost everyone in the first movie made a comeback (which fans always love to see). Lewis and Lind were brilliant and newcomers Jenna Ortega, Maximilian Acevedo, and Julio Cesar Chavez made a serious splash with their characters.
The number one aspect I loved about this film was that I couldn’t exactly predict the storyline or what would happen next, and that’s something to appreciate since most films lately can be so basic. I felt that the writers and everybody who worked on this film gave fans everything they wanted. When I finished the movie (yes, in tears) I was excited to see the reviews. I was disappointed when I saw that critics just tore the movie apart without actually valuing a pretty cool film! Not every movie is going to be Steven Spielberg or Christopher Nolan huge, but at least The Babysitter has made and will go down in cinema history.
If you loved the first film then I’m sure you’ll admire the sequel, and if you haven’t seen either of them, then now’s your time to have a new favorite series because there have been talks of a third installment!
As mentioned above, do not listen to the critics and stream The Babysitter: Killer Queen on Netflix today!
