A new report from The DisInsider reveals new details regarding Disney+’s upcoming animated continuation of the Night At The Museum franchise have emerged. Tentatively set to be titled Night At The Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again, the animated flick has already begun casting, with production expected to begin on November 2nd, per the report.
The film will follow the son of Ben Stiller’s Larry Daley, Nick Daley, who has decided to become an overnight security guard at a museum that, much like the original films, comes to life in the night. A nervous fellow, Nick will be joined by many of his father’s old pals, including Jedediah, Octavius, President Teddy Roosevelt, and the Egyptian King Kahmunrah. The famous Sacagawea will also return alongside newcomer Joan of Arc. Though the original actors were instant classics to play these fan favorite characters, their return to the roles is not expected as the studio intends to recast these voice roles.
The original three-film franchise debuted to massive success and were instant hits as Ben Stiller’s Larry Daley navigated the strange nights at the Smithsonian and the British Library. A fourth live-action flick is also in development, though in the early stages. According to the report, this animated addition to the series is expected to hit Disney’s immense streaming service Disney+ in late 2021. With voice work and animation continuing on remotely in response to the global COVID-19 pandemic on many films, this expectation is extremely likely.
