With just two weeks left until its release, director Christopher Landon and actors Vince Vaughn and Kathryn Newton discuss the newest upcoming body-swap horror, Freaky, the conception of which the screenwriter had gotten after having seen Happy Death Day.
Newton will try to play into the comedy of Vaughn’s serial killer character. Blum likens her acting to her performances in the Paranormal Activity franchise. Meanwhile, Vaughn will look into Newton’s character and empathizes with her background.
Landon discusses his style of writing and commends Blumhouse’s marketing of its projects. Newton is excited to see the “guttural” reactions to the film’s trailer.
The director teases the film’s grounded depth, which is more than a body-swapping film. The audience will probably end up feeling for the characters of the film, aside from all the scares and laughs that it contains.
Halloween is definitely not canceled during this pandemic. Newton plans to binge the Paranormal Activity films, while Vaughn is having fun with his family — probably dressing up as Pennywise the Dancing Clown.
Landon had made his mark in the modern horror genre with his work on the Paranormal Activity films, Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, Happy Death Day, and, earlier last year, its sequel Happy Death Day 2U.
Here is the latest trailer for Freaky:
Freaky premieres on Friday the 13th next month!
