Entire Season 4 of Stranger Things has been written.
During the chaotic nature of our world today, it’s hard not imagine and hope for matters to return to normal. It is during this time though, that in spite of all that limits us–we exceed where we can. When it comes to cinema and its early stages of production, that is especially true, as there is much richness in refinement of the stories films and TV shows plan to tell when filming is underway once again.
Just recently, the fourth season of Stranger Things began rolling. Although the odd state of our dimension, much like The Upside Down, has cameras a-flicker, there is one thing for certain–for the first time, the season has been written in full. Shawn Levy said this in an interview with Collider:
“I’ll just say the pandemic definitely massively delayed shooting and therefore the launch of our current Season 4, date still TBD. But it impacted very positively by allowing the Duffer brothers, for the first time ever, to write the entire season before we shoot it and to have time to rewrite in a way that they rarely had before so the quality of these screenplays are exceptional, maybe better than ever.”
Looking at the series thus far through a lens as an audience member, the quality of this show builds–Season 1 was epic, and even though Season 2 seemed to waver, Season 3 was punchy and breathed bright, neon energy into the story and characters! Their evolution from beginning to end of the last installment, Season 3 has left us the most curious about where the characters go from here and what’s left in the beyond known as The Upside Down. If the writers are this seasoned penning this narrative, have utilized this time to fully finish prior to principal photography, and lastly may have more time if the pandemic brings the show under again–everything that has to do with Stranger Things 4 will not only be polished into its best state, but well worth the wait!
