Amazon is positioning to purchase The Tomorrow War for roughly $200 million from Skydance, per Variety. Earlier today, Deadline reported that the Chris Pratt-led sci-fi film was screened to streaming services interested over the weekend. According to Deadline, the screening was well-received by the potential purchasers.

The sci-fi action film has been given high remarks in test screenings, hailing from a script written by Zach Dean. Chris McKay (The Lego Batman Movie) directs the movie following a man from the past who is brought to the future to save humanity from destruction. In order to save the world, he must confront his own past.

With the state of the world as it is, many films have been eyeing moves to streaming service releases. MGM, for instance, has shopping No Time To Die, the 25th James Bond movie starring Daniel Craig (Knives Out). Both Amazon and Apple showed interest, but Metro-Golden Meyer set a price tag of $600 million, a number far too rich for their blood.

Amazon seemingly is fearless about spending. To start, the studio is prepared to spend $200 million on The Tomorrow War. But before that, Amazon began production on a Lord of the Rings prequel series in development that is expected to cost nearly $1 billion for the first season alone, the online shopping center-turned movie and television studio is going all in on its streaming service. The studio has also saw success with many of its original series, such as The Boys, and The Marvelous Ms. Maisel.

The Tomorrow War stars Chris Pratt, Betty Gilpin, Yvonne Strahovski, and is directed by Chris McKay with a script from Zach Dean.
