How can you deny the greatness that is Blade Runner? If the 1982 adaptation of Philip K. Dick’s novel and its 2017 sequel weren’t any indication, boy do we have news for you! An expansion of the Blade Runner franchise is set to premiere later this year titled, Blade Runner: Black Lotus. Earlier this week, Adult Swim and Crunchyroll have revealed a list of characters and voice cast members (English & Japanese) for the upcoming series. Other Details

An exclusive first look of the series will debut at Comic-Con @ Home 2021 later this month on Friday, 23rd. Co-directors Shinji Aramaki and Kenji Kamiyama, executive producer Joseph Chou, voice director Wes Gleason, and Elle actress Jessica Henwick will be joining the panel. Additionally, Jason DeMarco — Toonami co-creator and Adult Swim senior vice president and creative director — will serve as the moderator.

Blade Runner: Black Lotus consists of thirteen episodes. Alcon Entertainment and Sola Digital Arts will produce the series, while Shinichiro Watanabe will serve as a creative producer.

Adult Swim’s anime programming block, Toonami, will air the English language version of the series. Meanwhile, Crunchyroll will stream the television anime series in Japanese, available with subtitles.

Personally, I loved both Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049. Although, I wanted to see more of these characters and the lore of the franchise to be explored. Of course, having it now as an anime series is awesome, and I’d love to see what more will be brought to the table.
