Ozark Season Four Episode Four is titled, “Ace Deuce”. It is directed by Alik Sakharov and is written by John Shiban.

Following the previous episode, Wendy (Laura Linney) lies about Ben, Marty (Jason Bateman) and Javi (Alfonso Herrera) make a delivery, and Ruth (Julia Garner) hangs out with Kerry Stone (Eric Ladin).

Character Developments in Ozark Season 4 Episode 4

The cast of Ozark continues to impress as the final season moves along; this episode paces nicely with the characters carrying the episode as it progresses. Wendy seems determined to keep the Byrde Family Foundation as high as possible, even going so far as to lie about Ben. Now, she has to play this balancing act between the things she reveals publicly and what she chooses to reveal to Jonah (Skylar Gaertner) and Charlotte (Sofia Hublitz).

It seems that Ben’s death may factor more into the overall story of Season Four as the series progresses. Marty attempts to get a clearer picture from Wendy, but she dismisses it altogether.

Ruth goes on her own adventure with Kerry at the Missouri Belle but things go sideways. It also seems like Marty might be over most of Ruth’s craziness and might go back into business with her. She ends up taking care of some business issues with Wyatt (Charlie Tahan) and they silently bond over the experience in the end.

Darlene (Lisa Emery) remains to be a bother among the characters, Wyatt and Ruth in particular. Private investigator Mel (Adam Rothenberg) also gets more screen time this episode and finds Wendy’s father, who ends up calling Wendy. After bringing up Ben, Wendy dismisses her father as well.

Family Dynamics

Although the family seemed to be coming together, much like a loose thread on an article of clothing, all it takes is a pull for things to spiral out of control. Jonah seems to be pushing Charlotte towards her own lane rather than help Mom and Dad, while Charlotte just wants her little brother to listen to their parents. While it seems that Marty wants nothing but for them to stick together, Wendy seems to be nearly finished dealing with Jonah’s antics.

It’s going to be interesting to see where the family dynamic goes after this “Ace Deuce” episode of Ozark.

Other Crucial Elements of Ozark

The cinematography and direction are standouts of this episode. Sakharov features several moments where the camera pans in or out of a conversation and stops directly at the moment of tension. It’s great camerawork for TV and just adds the extra spice the show needs in those moments.

The writing is exceptional as well, and this season of Ozark features some of the best character moments. The music played throughout the episodes in this season so far is fantastic. It keeps you entertained along with the scene’s other elements. Episode Three’s ending featured a song by the legendary MC Killer Mike, while this episode’s ending features a song by 21 Savage.

Altogether, there are other great elements of the show to keep Netflix’s viewers entertained, especially with the mass amount of content they put out.

Final Thoughts

Overall, you should continue to tune in to the Byrde family drama this season. “Ace Deuce” continues the dynamic from Episode Three and is just another great episode of the show. It seems that the producers are doing their best at attempting to put a bow on Ozark. So far, the end of every episode has done a nice job at setting up the anticipation of the next, and that’s another great aspect about the show.
