Earlier this year, we were blessed with the genius show that was Minx. The show centred around Joyce Prigger (Ophelia Lovibond) as she followed her dream to publish a feminist magazine. After some setbacks, she met Doug Renetti (Jake Johnson) who agreed to publish her magazine- with a twist! And that’s how ‘Minx’ – the first erotic magazine for women- was created.
The story that followed was hilarious, heartwarming, and covered a lot of issues. Women in media, the place of pornography in feminism, male nudity; these are just some of the topics that are covered in a funny, respectful, and hard-hitting way.
A critically acclaimed show that had fantastic characters and a brilliant story. And now it has been renewed for a second season!
While we don’t have any details yet as to what the second season will contain, season 1 left us at a beautiful turning point in the life of ‘Minx’. The magazine garnered a lot of attention (both good and bad), and when we left, we saw Joyce ready to take on the next adventure.
We’re hoping we’ll get to see what Joyce does next, and how the rest of the cast comes into play. I’m personally hoping we get to see more of our favourite trio, Richie (Oscar Montoya), Bambi (Jessica Lowe) and Shelley (Lennon Parham). I’m also hoping we get to see Tina (Idara Victor) finally reach her full potential.
It was a show that created a beautiful story that you just couldn’t miss and had everything you could possibly want. it’s exciting to see what they’ll do next, and how Minx will grow.
Minx season one was created by showrunner Ellen Rapoport, Feigco Entertainment and Lionsgate Television. The show debuted in March 2022 on HBO Max. It stars Ophelia Lovibond, Jake Johnson, Idara Victor, Jessica Lowe, Lennon Parham, Oscar Montoya, and Michael Angarano.
All ten episodes of Minx season one are available to stream on HBO Max.
