The actor playing Uncle Fester, Christina Ricci’s mysterious role, and the release date are all unveiled in the new trailer for Alfred Gough, Miles Millar, and Tim Burton’s Wednesday!

Watch Netflix’s new official trailer for Wednesday below:

Back in August, Netflix released the official teaser trailer for the highly-anticipated Tim Burton reimagined series of The Addams Family titled Wednesday, starring Jenna Ortega. Now roughly two months later, we get the full trailer and most answers to questions lingering in the aftermath of the teaser drop. Like, who is playing Uncle Fester? What is Christina Ricci’s role in the new series? Most importantly, when is it even coming out? “Sometime this Fall” is too vague and has kept us on our toes for far too long. Finally, we’re given a specific date of when the series will be released: November 23rd. Before you ask—and in respect to fanfare—November 23rd does, in fact, fall on a Wednesday.

Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester in Netflix’s Wednesday series.

What’s New About Wednesday

The official trailer premiered at last week’s New York Comic Con, revealing that Fred Armisen will be playing Uncle Fester. He joins the Addams clan as Wednesday’s ally as she navigates high school and supernatural town mysteries, all while scooting around on a fashionable cow-print motorcycle and sidecar, of course. But to tackle the most pressing question of Armisen’s addition to the series, in a Vanity Fair article, Armisen confirms that his bald head is all too real.

Christina Ricci as Ms. Thornhill in Netflix’s Wednesday series.

The trailer also reveals Ricci’s role as Ms. Thornhill, a teacher at Nevermore Academy. I predict to fulfill a mentorship figure in Wednesday’s life in a fourth-wall full-circle kind of way. Ricci had once worn the famous Wednesday braids and no-nonsense stare back in the 1991 release of The Addams Family, then again in 1993 for Addams Family Values. She has since grown her repertoire and actually stepped into the Burtonverse back in 1999 with her role as Katrina Van Tassel in Burton’s Sleepy Hollow, starring alongside another Burtonverse favorite, Johnny Depp.

The trailer expands more on what the teaser first introduced. We learn that Wednesday has a new roommate, she’s allergic to color, and she might have superpowers. One thing I have noticed from the trailer is that, despite Wednesday’s strong dislike of most people, she’s fairly active in school activities. Although, it may all be a part of her front for solving mysteries and unveiling family secrets.

Wednesday streams on Netflix this November 23rd.
