2023 is a year brimming with animated features of classic beloved characters. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are slated in this year’s lineup. The four pizza-loving turtles are starring in Seth Rogen’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, on yet another big-screen adventure. They will be battling it out in theaters with other anticipated animated films such as The Super Mario Bros. Movie and the highly anticipated Spider-Man: Across the SpiderVerse.

On Saturday, Rogen announced the voice actors at the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards. The upcoming film will feature Micah Abby as Donatello, Shamon Brown Jr. as Michelangelo, Nicolas Cantu as Leonardo, and Brady Noon as Raphael.

The supporting cast boasts a stacked assortment of stars, including: Jackie Chan as Splinter, Ayo Edebiri (The Bear, Thunderbolts) as April O’Neal, Rose Burns as Leatherhead, Seth Rogen (Sausage Party, An American Pickle, Invincible) as Bebop, John Cena (F9, The Suicide Squad, Vacation Friends, Peacemaker) as Rocksteady, and finally Giancarlo Esposito (Do the Right Thing, Breaking Bad, The Mandalorian, The Boys) as Baxter Stockman, to name a few.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have a rich history that kicked off with the 1984 comic book series. The comic would then lead to their hit animated cartoon series. They dominated animated television in the 1980s and 1990s! The 1990 live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film continued the wave of success spawning two sequels, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze (1991) and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III (1003). The turtles still hold a strong presence on television to this day thanks to their new iterations every few years.

The latest entry focuses heavily on the turtle’s iconic rogue gallery, which contains many mutated creatures that are great for selling toys and driving the movie’s narrative. The plot involves a new tale of heroes ready to embark on an adventure out of the shadows as they befriend local news reporter April O’Neal. The ninja turtles and April will set out to save New York City from the growing population of mutants.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is set for release on August 4th, 2023. The animated Nickelodeon film is co-directed by Seth Rogen and Jeff Rowe. However, fans can expect a teaser trailer on Monday, March 6th, 2023, to tide them over until the August release date.
