Fans of Deadpool have been waiting since 2018 for the next installment starring Ryan Reynolds as the merc with a mouth. The delay in filming is caused by the Disney acquisition of 20th Century Fox and Marvel finding ways to integrate characters from the X-Men and Fantastic Four into Marvel Studios’ Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now it has been reported that the wisecracking antihero will join the MCU alongside two familiar faces.
The first returning character is Karan Soni’s Dopinder. Dopinder is the loveable taxi driver who befriends Deadpool and is a pseudo-sidekick in both films. Next to him is Leslie Uggams as Blind-Al, Deadpool’s blind roommate who adds to the film’s comedic tone and comics since Deadpool issue #1.
Returning to the Deadpool franchise behind the scenes are Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese as the film’s screenwriters. The duo previously wrote on both prior films. Although not in previous installments, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will be repaired in the third installment.
What Is Known about Deadpool 3
The news of Karan Soni and Leslie Uggams reprising their roles comes after the announcements that new cast members are set to join the cast. HBO’s Succession star Matthew Macfadyen signed on to star in the film. Prior to that, another new face, Emma Corrin from Netflix’s The Crown, was added to the growing roster. Corrin portrayed Princess Diana of Wales in Season Four of The Crown.
Deadpool 3 will also mark the first time that Kevin Feige will work alongside Ryan Reynolds to bring the character of Deadpool to the MCU. Feige is the president of Marvel Studios and the primary director behind the MCU films and television since joining in 2007.
Fans can expect to see Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool 3, hitting theaters on November 8th, 2024. Follow The Cinema Spot on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for all updates regarding the MCU and Deadpool 3.
