Currently pursuing a film career with a passion for film journalism, storytelling of any kind has allowed me to let my imagination run wild in ways even I couldn’t predict. Expect me to write about film, TV, and the entertainment industry.

Rumors regarding Martin Scorsese’s runtime for Killers of the Flower Moon can be put to bed as Deadline reports it’ll clock-in at 3 hours, 26 minutes.

Speculation began to spread earlier in the year that Martin Scorsese had a 4 hour rough cut of Killers of the Flower Moon. It was suspected it would be the actual final cut he might have originally planned for. Last week we learned the film is having its world premiere at the Cannes International Film Festival, and those initial runtime reports can now be completely ignored. The official runtime of Scorsese’s latest crime epic will be 3 hours and 26 minutes.

Apple TV+ is expected to cooperate with Paramount Pictures to first give the movie a theatrical run later this October, before releasing it on streaming around the globe. This seems to be the new norm for Apple. Bloomberg reported that the company will be spending $1 billion a year in theatrical projects. It’s believed they will apply what they’re doing with Scorsese to other major productions such as Ridley Scott’s Napoleon.

Background on Killers of the Flower Moon

Based on David Grann’s book, Killers of the Flower Moon stars long-time collaborators of Scorsese’s like Robert De Niro (The Irishman) and Leonardo DiCaprio (Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood). The film will focus on the mysterious 1920s murders of the Osage tribe in the United States that led to a major F.B.I. investigation. Lily Gladstone (Reservation Dogs), Jesse Plemons (Jungle Cruise), Tantoo Cardinal (Three Pines), John Lithgow (Sharper), Cara Jade Myers (This Is Us), William Belleau (Under the Banner of Heaven), and Brendan Fraser (The Whale) are also set to star.
