One week into the Writers Guild of America strike, hiatuses swiftly hit productions. The film industry keeps writers on set; while some shows are currently filming, many have stopped dead in their tracks. The latest is Disney+’s Daredevil: Born Again, which is currently filming its 18-episode season, serving as a successor to the former Netflix Daredevil series.
Daredevil: Born Again is set to bring back Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, the defense attorney from Hell’s Kitchen, who just so happens to be the man without fear himself, Daredevil. The series will also bring back Vince D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher. Other names associated with the cast are Margarita Levieva, Sandrine Holt, Michael Gandolfini, Arty Froushan, and Nikki M. James. However, with the ongoing writers’ strike, it might be some time before Daredevil: Born Again can fully swing back into production.

The news update came from Warren Leight’s Twitter account. Leight is a showrunner and WGA strike captain that is highly active on social media regarding updates on New City-based WGA strikes. He recently tweeted, “Looks like we’re done for the day at Silvercup East as Daredevil has called their day in response to a #WGASTRONG picket with line help from @SAGAFTRA and #Local802,” in a post updating the latest production halt.
According to sources at Deadline, “The show wrapped for the day after 1 PM ET with no filming done. Production is slated to continue tomorrow.” The upcoming series is written and executive produced by Matt Corman and Chris Ord; neither can be present due to the ongoing strike. They are leaving the crew entirely writerless, making production difficult, seeing that writers are generally on set to help and offer feedback during filming.
