Simon McQuoid’s highly anticipated follow-up to his 2021 martial arts fantasy adaptation, Mortal Kombat, grows again. Adeline Rudolph, star of Netflix’s Sabrina the Teenage Witch, is officially portraying Kitana in Mortal Kombat 2. Rudolph will be joining her Sabrina the Teenage Witch co-star, Tati Gabrielle, as the latest defender of Earthrealm.
Mortal Kombat 2 is set to be directed by Simon McQuiod, with the script penned by Jeremy Slater (Moon Knight). The story is set to follow Earthrealm’s heroes as they defend our planet from the forces of Outworld by engaging their champions in Mortal Kombat. Mortal Kombat was a success for New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Studios when the film was released in both theaters and on HBO Max in the spring of 2021. The film succeeded during the COVID pandemic, and a sequel was quickly green-lit.

Adeline Rudolph’s character, Kitana, was introduced in Mortal Kombat II (1993), otherwise known as the installment that helped make Mortal Kombat a household name. The iconic arcade fighting game introduced many characters to the franchise and expanded the series’ lore. The 1993 sequel brought in the bladed fan-wielding Kitana along with her bodyguard, Jade. The two characters are close, and the upcoming film will see the reunion of former Sabrina the Teenage Witch co-stars sharing a screen once more. The two were a part of the Weird Sisters, a bond that should bring on-screen chemistry.
Rudolph began her on-screen career debuting in Netflix’s Sabrina the Teenage Witch series. The actress and model was raised in Hong Kong before joining Hollywood. Rudolph has gained some acting credits and is filming on Hellboy: The Crooked Man. Rudolph and Gabrielle will star alongside Karl Urban’s fan-favorite combatant, Johnny Cage.
