Fans of the band Cage the Elephant already knew that there ain’t no rest for the wicked, and now we can add John Wick to that list. After the events of John Wick: Chapter 4, some might find themselves scratching their heads in confusion. However, during Lionsgate’s quarterly earnings call which confirmed the slate of film projects, it was said writing resumed after the WGA strike came to an end.
During the call, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Chair Joe Drake confirmed that writing on a fifth chapter of the saga had resumed, and plans for more spin-offs were underway.
[W]e got multiple spin-offs and Wick Five. We started to work on [the next film] right when the writer’s strike started, and we’ve gotten back to work as soon as it ended.

The Wick Keeps Burning for John Wick
The news comes as no surprise after the success of The Continental: From the World of John Wick on Peacock. The series proves that the world of John Wick is more than just Keanu Reeves’s hitman, but a rich, action-packed world riddled with bullets and lore. On top of that, fans can also expect more of the Wick-verse in next year’s Ballerina, which stars Ana de Armas and will feature Keanu Reeves’ return as the franchise’s title character.
Now that we have confirmation that Derek Kolstad’s cinematic universe will grow, fans of the dog-loving assassin can rejoice after what felt like a concrete conclusion of Chapter 4 to the John Wick saga seems only to be the tip of the iceberg. Yet, cinephiles rejoiced as this wasn’t the only news from this earnings call. Henry Cavill’s Highlander reboot by Chad Stahelski aims for a 2026 release window. Now action fans have not only more Keanu but more Cavill, too.
