As per The Hollywood Reporter, a remake of the cult horror film, Possession, is in the works. Robert Pattinson will serve as a producer through his production company, Icki Eneo Arlo, while Parker Finn will produce the remake under his Bad Feeling production company. Roy Lee (The Strangers film series, Bates Motel, Blair Witch, Watcher, Barbarian, Late Night with the Devil, Them) will serve as the producer through Vertigo Entertainment.

Additionally, Finn, best known for his work on 2022’s Smile, will serve as both the writer and the director. Yet, it’s unclear if Pattinson will act in the film. It is said to depend on his scheduling as the project develops further. The plan seems to be for Finn to start work on this project once Smile 2tentatively titled Smile Deluxe—is released later this year.

Robert Pattinson has become much more selective with his roles since his Twilight days. The actor has most recently played the titular hero in The Batman as well as the lead in Bong Joon Ho’s upcoming adventure drama science-fiction adaptation, Mickey 17. Pattinson doesn’t seem to have any other roles lined up currently, so it is more than likely for him to take on this project as an actor.

Background on Possession

The original Possession was released in 1981 and was written and directed by Polish filmmaker Andrzej Żuławski. Sam Neill stars as a spy returning home to his family. His wife, Anna (Isabelle Adjani), divorces him and things quickly escalate into a nightmare scenario.
