The MonsterVerse has found the filmmaker to helm the showdown of god and king.
The Hollywood Reporter reported that Adam Wingard has landed a deal to direct Godzilla vs Kong. Wingard is known for directing horror films like You’re Next, Blair Witch, The Guest and Death Note, which will be out on Netflix August 25. Wingard has also been in the mix for Sony’s upcoming Venom film coming out next year.
Godzilla vs Kong is slated to be the fourth film in the MonsterVerse and is easily the biggest film Wingard has embarked on. This continues the trend of filmmakers like Gareth Edwards (Godzilla), Colin Trevorrow (Jurassic World) and Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kong: Skull Island) doing small budget films and then getting a chance at a blockbuster franchise.
The meeting of the iconic monsters will take place on May, 22 2020 and details about the film are being kept secret on a South Pacific atoll. The next installment of the MonsterVerse is titled Godzilla: King of The Monsters and will be directed by Michael Dougherty. That film is set be released March, 22 2019.
